Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services’ Training Office is seeking applicants for the positions of Training Specialist 2. These positions report to Training Management and typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assessing training and development needs by observing agency staff and discussing agency programs with program managers;
• Ensuring training opportunities are in support of and compliance with agency policies, procedures and operations;
• Reviewing employee performance evaluation and program evaluation reports;
• Consulting with employee organization representatives regarding training proposals funded from monies under State and employee organization agreements;
• Researching various sources to find information, materials, and technologies to help in the design and development of training programs;
• Approving specific programs and courses prepared by training staff to meet established training objectives;
• Negotiating and approving or recommending contracts with outside vendors to provide specific training and development programs;
• Presenting training courses dealing with complex and specialized material; and.
• Informing program managers and staff of training opportunities available.
