Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, accomplished problem solving abilities, and the ability to visualize and analyze complex mechanical and electrical control systems and its components. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5-years-experience in supervising HVAC related trades, and 5-years-experience hands-on HVAC related trades experience. A Technical Degree is desirable.

Position Summary:
75%: Determine daily work plans for subordinate staff and supervise projects. Provide oral and written instructions to staff as needed. Perform general supervisory duties such as scheduling, addressing personnel issues, identifying training needs and writing work performance evaluations. Coordinate activities with other trades involved in work orders and projects

5%: Provide guidance and technical support to subordinate staff with respect to daily operation of physical plant plumbing and sheet metal in order to maximize operational efficiency of buildings and satisfy customer service requests.

5%: Review all new construction and renovation plans and specifications to ensure suitability of design and coordination with daily operational needs of affected buildings. Support University sustainability initiatives.

5%: Assist in training of Plumbers, General Mechanics and other trades within University Facilities on the technical aspects of plumbing and sheet metal systems for existing and new building installations.

5%: Coordinate and provide cost estimates of labor and material and keep detailed records of all work performed by subordinate staff.

5%: Manage all requests for equipment, materials and supplies utilized in the daily operation of the physical plant and within budgetary limits for both daily operations and project work.
