Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for the Office Assistant 2 or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer via 70.1
To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer, an individual must have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a salary grade 7 or above.
Duties Description Process moderate to more complex claims relating to properties held or owing to individuals, estates, finders, and other entitled parties.
• Handle a wide variety of complex claims including but not limited to individual, finders, estates and multiple estate claims.
• Make determinations of claimant eligibility/entitlement or the validity of claims based on information collected from the claimant and other relevant individuals.
• Handle all questions directly with the claimant and/or their representatives; respond or escalate claims based on special circumstances.
• Be able to accurately recommend and complete the settlement process, effectively utilize the 3 UFPS processing systems, maintain the ability to process independently and demonstrate good decision making skills and consistently meet the established production and accuracy standards.
Provide supervisory assistance
• Answer staffs questions in a clear and consistent manner, review subordinate staff claims processed for accuracy, thoroughness and adherence to procedures and guidelines, monitor performance measures and standards, recommends training needs
Answers more complex claimant inquiries by phone, email and letters.
• Create well organized and accurate outgoing correspondence using appropriate standard sentences, answer e-mail correspondence timely using the established format and appropriate responses, assist customers via telephone concerning questions relating to OUF.
