Minimum Qualifications 1. 30 semester college credit hours, including or supplemented by 12 semester credit hours in forestry, which must include at least one course in three or more of the following areas: forest biology, silviculture, forest mensuration, forest protection, forest soils, dendrology, botany and land surveying.
OR
2. One year of diversified, technical forestry experience in two or more of the following areas: forest management, including sale and removal of timber products, nursery management, including the transplanting of tree or shrub seedlings; forest pest management, including control of diseases and insect pests.

Duties Description Work will be primarily on State Forests; Complete Forest inventory projects. Oversee timber harvesting operations. Timber marking for forest product sales. GIS data collection and mapping. Assist with prescribed fire, if qualified. Boundary line maintenance.

Additional Comments Must be willing to work independently, in rough terrain during all kinds of weather conditions.

Experience with data collectors, GIS programs, forests of south central NY and forest health is preferred.

This is a temporary appointment with a duration of 8/1/16 - 3/31/17.
