Minimum Qualifications Current permanent status as an Addictions Counselor 1 and qualified for a lateral transfer ~OR~ Eligible for appointment from the current Addictions Counselor 1 eligible list. Applicants must possess current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State. Candidate must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.

Duties Description Provide individual counseling and case management services to patients in an inpatient facility
* Maintain a case load of 3-4 patients with substance abuse and related problems
* Conduct individual and group therapy and maintain all required documentation
* Assess patient's psychosocial condition and prepare and carry out treatment plans and discharge plans
* Participate in case presentations and reviews; work within a multidisciplinary treatment team
* Determine the effects of alcohol and other drug use on patient functioning
* Present educational materials to community groups patients, and other staff
* Assess and develop appropriate discharge plan and help patient comply with recommended aftercare.
Other duties as assigned.
