Minimum Qualifications Senior Personnel Examiner, SG-18: eligible for a 52.6 transfer.

Personnel Examiner Trainee 1, NS: eligible for a Section 70.1 or 70.4 transfer, or 55-b/c eligible (Must have Bachelor’s Degree and 55b/c designation letter to qualify)

Duties Description The work responsibilities involve planning, developing, and evaluating civil service tests to select individuals for State and local government positions in New York State. Staff work with a variety of test formats, including multiple-choice, evaluation of training and experience, job simulation exercise, essay/constructed response, performance, and others in one of two different occupational areas:

1. Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical, and Environmental/Laboratory Science or

2. Safety and Security including Corrections, Police, Probation and Fire

To carry out these responsibilities the incumbent will:

• Collect and analyze job information
• Develop and document appropriate test plans
• Write, edit, review, and proof test material
• Prepare and proof test administration materials
• Analyze test results and prepare scoring recommendations
• Use electronic systems to complete job tasks
• Communicate with others within and outside of the agency on testing matters
