Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.

Candidates must have permanent status as an Associate Auditor, Grade 23, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR possess 24 credit hours in accounting and auditing and be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Duties Description The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), Bureau of Audit, is recruiting to fill an Associate Auditor, Grade 23, position. Under the general direction of a Principal Auditor, the incumbent supervises and conducts financial and operational audits of State and local providers, and is the on-site supervisor providing direction and leadership to other audit staff. The incumbent will work independently on audits and communicate with the auditee to explain audit results. The incumbent will also write audit programs to ensure that audit objectives are identified and that there is a step-by-step plan to accomplish those objectives. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of staff work, reviews and approves subordinate work papers ensuring that staff follows generally accepted accounting and auditing standards to complete their work. The incumbent will also prepare audit reports which can be readily reviewed by the supervisor, and will explain any technical questions raised by the Audit Manager on the content of the review. Travel is required. Compressed work weeks may be available.
