Preferred Qualifications

Experience with New York State Department of Health (DOH) procurement, personnel, and other administrative processes. Ability to effectively work in a fast paced office and prioritize multiple assignments. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and SharePoint. Familiarity with the B-1184 process and the Statewide Financial System (SFS). Interest in occupational health and safety.

Duties Description The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will work under the general direction of the Agency Safety and Health Director, who manages the DOH Occupational Health and Safety Program. The HPA will be responsible for performing various human resources activities related to providing employee health and safety services to statewide DOH regional and central office staff for routine and emergency response assignments. The HPA will be a liaison for the DOH’s Occupational Health and Safety Program; assist with various fiscal activities, including reviewing and processing vouchers and preparing and analyzing spending reports; assist with DOH personnel activities, including updating and analyzing various staffing reports to identify staff with occupational exposure risks, tracking the completion of health and safety training and employee immunizations/screenings. The incumbent will also assist with providing Occupational Health and Safety related technical assistance and guidance to DOH programs; update and maintain tracking systems and procedural guidance, and assist with special projects and other administrative tasks, as needed.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time appointment. Candidates applying under section 70.4 may be required to take and pass a qualifying examination. Occasional travel, including overnights and travel to areas not served by public transportation may be required.
