Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and three years of professional research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master’s Degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: New York State licensed clinical social worker with 6-year “R” psychotherapy privilege and State of New York Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). At least 10 years of clinical experience working with individuals with psychotic disorders or other psychiatric disorders in inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, and research settings. At least 10 years of experience conducting diagnostic and clinical interviews for research studies. Possession of Ph.D. in Social Work and Masters of Business Administration preferred. Completion of post-doctoral fellowship in psychiatric-related discipline preferred. At least 3 years of experience performing administrative duties in an academic setting preferred.

Duties Description The candidate will perform the following duties: (1) visit inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room settings and speak with treating clinicians to identify potential participants for clinical trials for treatment of schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders; (2) screen potential participants using inclusion and exclusion criteria for clinical trials; (3) conduct extensive structured and semi-structured diagnostic and clinical interviews and summarize the findings for multiple clinical trials with patients with schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders; (4) perform comprehensive cognitive battery of neuropsychological tests and document and summarize the results; (5) hold and lead diagnostic consensus meetings; (6) train new research raters and oversee regular rater training and reliability sessions; (7) provide supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy for adults with psychosis, bipolar disorder and related issues; and (8) perform administrative tasks related to sponsored projects, including preparation of grant proposals for submission, post-award grant and contract administration, budgeting, effort reporting, and payroll processing.

Additional Comments BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND FEES:
Background Investigation/Justice Center Review: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
