Minimum Qualifications Eligible for a Section 70.1 transfer. (Personnel Status Examiner Trainee NS=SG-11.)

Duties Description The Personnel Status Examiner 1/Trainee would be assigned to the Employment Records Section (ERS) Status Examiners Unit (SEU). Duties may include but not be limited to the following:
• Process a large volume of personnel transactions in NYSTEP utilizing a work list while adhering to strict Administrative and Institutional payroll deadlines;
• Develop a strong working knowledge of NYSTEP and Civil Service Laws, Rules and Regulations to process personnel transactions such as appointments;
• Develop a thorough understanding of NYSTEP records/screens and employee work history in order to make necessary changes/updates and resolve discrepancies/ issues;
• Communicate via telephone and email to provide professional assistance to New York State agencies, the Business Services Center and Civil Service Staffing Services Representatives;
• Prepare forms and correspondence as needed;
• Maintain files and procedures as needed.

The incumbent of this position must be able to work independently, be attentive to detail and work well under pressure. Proficiency using Excel, Word, Outlook and internal systems such as ELMS, NYSTEP and Lookup is preferred.
