Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 3,
SG-23 list, OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 21 or higher.
Duties Description • Assist in the reviews of deliverables as required
• Assist with the development of risk management and risk mitigation plans
• Assist with defining the impact of scope changes
• Assist in the development of work breakdown structures and project plans to support hardware activities
• Assist subordinate staff in diagnosing and correcting computer system problems (i.e. disk failure, memory leaks, server issues, etc.)
• Design, program and implement PowerShell scripts as needed for installation, configuration, management, monitoring and change of Servers, as needed
• Participate in selection, installation, and maintenance of OSCs server security software
• Assist subordinate staff in the development of backup, recovery and contingency/disaster planning
• Work with CIO staff, as well as other organizations at the Office of the State Comptroller and external entities, to ensure customer needs are addressed
• Assist in setting priorities and prepare person day estimates for projects participating in
• Assist subordinate staff in performing trouble-shooting and debugging activities
• Perform post-implementation and maintenance activities, as well as activities related to future upgrades and enhancements of the VMware, VSphere environmen
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated experience (2 or more years) in Windows Server OS.
• Demonstrated experience (2 or more years) in VMware Vsphere Management.
• Demonstrated experience with Windows Server Operating Systems building, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting, using the latest version as well as previous versions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of VMware, including, but not limited to VSphere control of VMware servers, as well as Backup and restore techniques in a large scale VMware environment.
• VMware Certified Professional.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of Active Directory Management and Administration.
• Demonstrated ability to design, program and implement PowerShell scripts in order to implement, manage, maintain and monitor Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of server Virtualization technologies, with a concentration of experience in VMware platforms.
• Demonstrated knowledge of storage networks.
• Demonstrated experience in Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate in a dynamic team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly master new information technology concepts using a variety of channels, including on-the-job learning, reading and research along with formal training.
• Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships including coordination with vendors and meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated good oral and written communication
• Demonstrated initiative, independence, confidentiality, planning, communication and organization.
