Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates to fill a School Food Program Specialist 4 position in the Office of Child Nutrition. This Office is responsible for providing technical assistance and performing field inspections of schools, sponsors and residential child care institutions participating in the School Breakfast, School Lunch and Summer Food Service Programs to ensure compliance with federal and State regulations, including the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate and supervise a team of School Food Program Specialist 3’s to administer the training, auditing, contracts, and Summer Food Service Programs (SFSP) units;
• Oversee daily administration of the Office of Child Nutrition;
• Assist in the development of program policies and procedures in the areas of SFSP, resource management, and training;
• Coordinate inter-departmental cross-functional work groups to integrate child nutrition initiatives;
• Coordinate federal child nutrition initiatives with other state agencies;
• Oversee the preparation, implementation and reporting of program grants and contracts;
• Assist in the development and implementation of program specific internal controls to ensure the highest level of program integrity and compliance;
• Monitor and evaluate the Department’s compliance with federal professional standard and procurement requirements; and
• Evaluate and prioritize training needs for contractors and Office of Child Nutrition staff.
