Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Permanent Qualifications:

Must be reachable on the current eligible list for Senior Internal Auditor.

OR

Transfer Qualifications:

Candidate must be eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 and 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

To be eligible to:

• Transfer under Section 52.6, candidates must have at least one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a grade 16 or higher.
• Transfer under Section 70.1, candidates must have one year or more of permanent or contingent/permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Note: Under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two (2) consecutive upward Section 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening list appointment. Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a fingerprint background check before an official appointment offer can be made.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction from an Associate Internal Auditor or other administrator, the Senior Internal Auditor serves as a member of the internal audit team performing audit work; examines source documents, records and reports relating to the activity under study; discusses administrative and operating practices with appropriate department personnel; evaluates and appraises operations for compliance with established procedures for effectiveness and efficiency,; prepares reports and recommendations; assists in the preparation of final audit reports; assist in the training and supervision of subordinate personnel; assist in the development of audit procedures.

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:

• Participating in preliminary studies to assess risks.
• Contributing to the development of audit plans and programs.
• Conducting analysis using computer-assisted audit techniques.
• Developing audit findings and presenting audit results to senior management and staff.
• Conducting follow-up audits to determine whether recommendations have been implemented timely.
• Interviewing agency personnel, including management level staff.
• Designing and developing work papers and analysis to meet audit objectives.

NOTE: 50 percent statewide overnight travel may be required.
