Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in electrical work under the supervision of a skilled Electrician, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the electrical trade.
Duties Description
Under the supervision of a journey-level tradesperson or maintenance supervisor the incumbent will:
• Perform semi-skilled installation and repair to electrical equipment and circuitry including: light fixtures, motors, wirings, fuses and relays.
• Utilize proper test equipment to locate and determine electrical malfunctions.
• Perform installation and repair to electrical wiring and components as well as control and distribution apparatus, which includes switches and circuit breakers.
• Perform and assist with semi-skilled activities in other trades in response to any maintenance program requirements. Work alongside other tradespeople to complete projects.
• Will be required to plan, estimate and layout work.
• Will be required to retrieve tools, materials and supplies needed for the project.
• Will be required to be familiar with all electrical tools and materials.
• Submit proper and accurate daily work order documentation in a timely manner.
• Will be required to effectively communicate with supervisors and other trades workers both when receiving and providing direction.

This information should be on the letterhead of the employer under whom the qualifying experience was gained and include names and titles of supervisors, duties performed during the training period and specific dates of employment and be signed by that employer.
• Candidates qualifying through the completion of appropriate course work should include a copy of their transcript or listing of course work completed.
• Copy of a trades union card is acceptable documentary proof of qualification.
• Candidates who do not submit appropriate documentary proof that they meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered for appointment.
Operating Needs:
• Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Asbestos certification required within 90 days of appointment as well as compliance with all related PESH/OSHA regulations.
• Able to work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, platform lifts, boom lifts etc.
• Able to operate a variety of forklifts (OSHA certification provided after appointment).
• Able to lift minimum of 80 lbs.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints and plans.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations.
