Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be eligible to transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law or an employee of the Office of the State Comptroller and meet the qualifications for provisional appointment.

Minimum qualifications for provisional appointment:
To be eligible for provisional appointment candidate must have one year of permanent competitive service in one of the following qualifying title:

Agency Program Aide, Agency Program Aide (Spanish Language), Office Assistant 2,
Office Assistant 2 (Spanish Language), Office Assistant 2 (Calculations),
Office Assistant 2 (Customer Service),
Office Assistant 2 (Customer Service) (Spanish Language),
Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding) (Spanish Language),
Secretary 1, or Secretary 1 (Spanish Language).

If appointed candidate must take, pass and be immediately reachable for permanent appointment from the next holding of the Unclaimed Property Applications Clerk 3.

Spanish Language examinations administered by the NYS Department of Civil Service on
a date to be determined.

70.1 Transfer:
To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer, a candidate must have one year permanent competitive service in a 70.1 title allocated to salary grade 12 or above.


Duties Description Oversee the initialization and transitioning of claims. Primarily responsible for processing special claims:
•Process online levy rejections and priority claims referred by management;
•Monitor and respond to correspondence received in the OUFSPEC and SCOM email boxes;
•Read and interpret correspondence sent in by NYS Agencies, business partners, and/or claimants to determine what action(s) are required;
•Review, analyze and input claimant information into CRIS and send acknowledgement correspondence;
•Serve as back up for walk-in customers; and
•Perform other assignments as required by OUF management.

Supervise SCII staff.
•Supervise subordinates;
•Review work completed by staff;
•Prepare reports on staff productivity;
•Participate in staff development and cross training activities;
•Participate in employee evaluation process;
•Schedule and complete staff training and other duties directed by management;
•Recommend procedural changes; and
•Review time cards and approve/deny leave requests.

The State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds is seeking conscientious and enthusiastic individuals to join their team as a supervisor in the Special Claims, Imaging and Initialization Unit. This unit is responsible for handling all incoming mail utilizing an imaging system and processing claims that need special attention. The right candidate will possess a high degree of ethics and integrity; be willing to quickly build organizational knowledge and savvy and develop expertise in the program specific aspects of the job; they will be familiar with risk management techniques and how to implement good internal controls. As team work is the foundation of this group, the right candidate will have excellent communication skills and an understanding of how emotional intelligence is key to building high-functioning work relationships. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability is a priority. Awareness of data security policies and protocols is a must as is the ability to apply technology solutions relevant to the position.
