Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The Agency Program Aide (APA) will assist a Regional Right of Way office in carrying out its program activities for the Dept. of Transportation. This will include developing, maintaining, updating, and monitoring databases related to real estate, consultant contracts and office inventory and budget. APA will collaborate with Right of Way staff to prepare presentations, correspondence, reports, and other documents including consultant contracts, real estate agreements and closing documents. APA will create new records in both physical and computer files, manage active records, and close appropriate records. APA will collect and analyze information, including property title data from multiple agencies through sources both online and in agency office locations. APA will assist the public with real estate transactions including responding to public inquiries, contacting other agencies on behalf of Department stakeholders and providing assistance to the public in completion of real estate agreements and other documents. The duties of this position require travel and field work within New York City. There will be locations to which candidates may be expected to travel that are not serviced by public transportation. Accordingly, at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter, possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State is required or the candidate must demonstrate the ability to meet the travel requirements of the position. Responsibilities may also include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
