Minimum Qualifications Ten years of professional work related experience in networking and data center technology. At least three years of which must have been supervisory experience or at least one year of managerial experience.
• Associate’s degree in a computer related field may substitute for two years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field may substitute for four years of experience.
• Master’s degree in a computer related field may substitute for an additional year.
• PhD in a computer related field may substitute for two additional years.
Preferred Qualifications:
• TCP/IP networking.
• Configuring VLANs, Port channels and associated interconnects.
• Cisco switch experience including Cisco 6500, 3750 and Nexus 7000, 6000 and 5000 switches.
• Cisco CSS and ACE load balancers.
• Cisco ASA Firewalls.
• Juniper Firewalls.
• Arista Switches
• Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal, ETC.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and Visio.
• Good communication skills
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to coordinate work from different projects.
Duties Description The New York State Office of Information Technology Services was established by the Administration in 2012 to consolidate IT service delivery to all New York State Agencies. Duties Description:
Under the direction of the Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG-27, the incumbent will manage the Data Center Consolidation (DCC) as it pertains to Data Center Network (DCN) operations and DCN Operations staff. The incumbent will manage unique and critical projects that require DCN Operations to implement or troubleshoot their implementation into the Consolidated State Data Center. The incumbent will assist the Manager of Data Center Networks to plan, implement and maintain the network environments that exist within the Consolidated State Data Centers.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plan, review and implement designs for agencies that are migrating into the Consolidated State Data Centers as they pertain to DCN Operations.
• Assign tasks to DCN Operations staff for Agency Migrations into the DCC.
• Provide feedback to the Manager of Data Center Networks and the DCC project Manager concerning the status of requests associated with the DCC.
• Assist the Manager of Data Center Networks in the planning, implementation and support of Data Center Network Operations.
• Travel to the Consolidated Data Centers and to the DC1 and DC2 VoIP data centers to coordinate activities at these locations.
• Work with other ITS units, agencies, vendors and customers to support DCC migration efforts.
• Attend DCC migration meetings to help facilitate project deadlines and work needs.
• Develop DCN staffing requirements for DCC migrations.
• Develop purchase plans and RFQs/RFPs for equipment needed for DCC migrations.
• Be on-call in order to maintain 24-7-365 coverage of Data Center support.
