Duties Description The New York State Gaming Commission seeks a highly skilled Associate Counsel with exceptional leadership skills to provide legal advice to support the Gaming Commission’s mission. The Gaming Commission is the State’s regulatory body, with varied responsibilities over all forms of gaming conducted within the State, including operation of the $10 billion-per-year New York Lottery and regulation of commercial casinos, Indian casinos, video lottery gaming, interactive fantasy sports, charitable gaming, horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering in New York State.

The Associate Counsel will report directly to the General Counsel and:

• Supervise assistant counsels;
• Draft commercial agreements and other documents, regulations and legislation;
• Assist in formulating policy;
• Manage projects;
• Ensure quality control;
• Investigate and enforce laws, regulations and policies;
• Supervise research; and
• Manage litigation.

Additional Comments The Associate Counsel serves at the pleasure of the Governor of the State of New York and shall be appointed pursuant to N.Y. Racing, Pari-Mutuel Wagering and Breeding Law Section 104.

This position is an exempt, full-time position with an anticipated starting salary of up to $125,000, dependent upon qualifications, and an outstanding, comprehensive benefits package.

Appointments are contingent upon a satisfactory background check which will include a federal and state criminal fingerprint records review.
