Minimum Qualifications Senior Personnel Examiner, SG-18: eligible for a 52.6 transfer.
Personnel Examiner Trainee, NS: eligible for a 52.6, 70.1 or 70.4 transfer; or 55-b/c eligible with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Duties Description The incumbent will develop civil service tests to select individuals for State and local government positions in New York State. The incumbent will plan, prepare and evaluate tests using a variety of formats, including multiple-choice, evaluation of training and experience, job simulation exercise, essay/constructed response, performance, and others. As part of the job, Senior Personnel Examiners:
• Collect and analyze job information
• Develop and document appropriate test plans
• Write, edit, review, and proof test material
• Prepare and proof test administration materials
• Analyze test results and prepare scoring recommendations
• Use electronic systems to complete job tasks
• Communicate with others within and outside of the agency on testing matters
The current vacancy is located in Test Development Group 2, Section TC1-2, which develops examinations for positions in State and Local Corrections, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Probation/Parole, Emergency Services, Investigations, and various legal, regulatory, and criminal justice related programs.
