Minimum Qualifications Six years professional administrative experience in public or private programs, public policy, public health, insurance or related field; OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of above described experience. College study may be substituted for up to four years of the required experience, at the rate of 15 semester credits hours equaling six months of the required experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for an additional one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Two years experience performing administrative duties in an Executive Office or similar work place setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and technology resources; excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities; excellent organizational skills; knowledge of state travel procedures; experience scheduling meetings; knowledge of the structure and mission of the Department of Health.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will serve as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner of the NYS Department of Health, which entails working with confidential and sensitive information, while coordinating and organizing workflow of the New York City Office of the Commissioner. In support of the Commissioner, the incumbent will; collect, combine, and prioritize information from downstate agency stakeholders for Commissioner review and sign-off; provide updates and create pre-meeting briefing documents and meeting agendas; answer phones and maintain office communication technology; coordinate external visitors and executive suite needs; make efficient travel arrangements; and respond to requests for information. The incumbent will also provide executive level administrative support and basic project research support to senior staff in the Commissioner’s Office.

Additional Comments Temporary, Exempt class, full-time appointment.

Additional $3,026 location pay.
