Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The incumbent will perform technical tasks under the direction of a higher-level supervisor.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Performing laboratory testing of materials, such as cement, asphalt, aggregates, paints and bridge bearings, as part of the Department’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program.
• Reviewing data and samples submitted for Approved List Materials.
• Interacting with Department engineering staff, manufacturer’s, industry representatives in the materials acceptance/rejection (A/R) process.
• Participating in the friction system data collection, involving test scheduling, reviewing and reporting of data, database management and test system maintenance.
• Occasional/seasonal travel across the state in support of the friction system data collection or field testing of materials.
• Performing other duties, as required.
Responsibilities also may include participating within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
