Minimum Qualifications For Senior Administrative Analyst, G-18: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Senior Administrative Analyst OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law OR in a title approved for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

Qualifications for Administrative Analyst Trainee, NS:
Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Administrative Analyst Trainee, NS; OR in a title designated appropriate for Section 70.1 transfer to the title of Administrative Analyst Trainee 1 or Administrative Analyst Trainee 2. OR in a title G-11 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grades.


Candidates with at least one year of permanent competitive service in a title allocated to G-11 or higher who have standing on the PCO or PMI eligible lists, or who have a bachelor’s degree and are active on the PATT eligible list may be eligible for transfer under the provisions of Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.

Candidates eligible for consideration under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program must possess a bachelor's degree to meet the education qualifications. The salary range identified above applies to candidates appointed to Senior Administrative Analyst, G-18. The hiring rate for candidates appointed to Administrative Analyst Trainee 1 start at $40,507 and is based on the candidate's state salary at the time of hire. Candidates hired into the traineeship will be advanced to Senior Administrative Analyst upon the successful completion of a two-year traineeship.

Duties Description The Senior Administrative Analyst will be assigned to the Internal Controls Unit within the Office of IT Services (ITS), Chief Administration Office. The incumbent will be actively involved in conducting assigned studies of information technology policies, standards, guidelines, and other documents.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Conducting a comprehensive review and analysis of proposed policies, standards, guidelines, and other documents.
• Researching and analyzing data and information relative to the proposed subject matter.
• Developing comparative studies of other states, agencies, and companies as they relate to the proposed subject matter.
• Researching and analyzing the effects of the new or proposed policy, standard, or guideline on the agency and its various business units.
• Preparing and presenting recommendations for review by management in connection with the analysis.
• Effectively communicating policy recommendations to key stakeholders.
• Performing periodic reviews of existing information technology policies, standards, guidelines, and other documents to ensure relevancy.
• Conducting training of personnel in operating units.
