Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have been admitted to the New York State Bar, be in good standing, have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar, and have a minimum of five years supervisory/management experience and some government experience. Strong writing skills required and knowledge of New York State criminal, ethics, and lobbying laws preferred. Knowledge of legislative and policy development process and basic understanding of New York State or municipal government is preferred but is not a requirement.

Duties Description The NYS Joint Commission on Public Ethics (“JCOPE”) seeks an individual for employment for a Director of Ethics position:
Duties of this position include: (i) advising and assisting those under JCOPE’s jurisdiction with performance of the Commission’s substantive statutory duties and programs; (ii) developing policy and regulations; and (iii) managing ethics division staff with the advisory opinions program, including conducting research, drafting opinions, and related tasks. The positon may require occasional in-state travel.
