Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Library Clerk 3

Section 70.1 Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-12 deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The New York Education Department’s Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for a Library Clerk 3 position within the New York State Library. The incumbent of this position will work under the direct supervision of an Associate Librarian in the Circulation/Stack Services Unit. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Oversee the daily operation and activities of the Library’s Circulation/Stack Services Unit;
• Work with the Associate Librarian in Public Services to resolve problems relating to circulation service policies and issues;
• Collaborate with other Library units to resolve problems related to the collection and maintenance of materials;
• Supervise activities of the Circulation and Paging Desks;
• Responsible for cash register procedures and cash activities, including preparation of weekly bank deposit;
• File legal materials, including the NYCRR;
• Collate and prepare the NYCRR take-out sheets for binding;
• Have working knowledge of library filing systems; and
• Supervisor lower level staff.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This position requires participation in a rotating Saturday work schedule.

NOTE: Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm or 9:00am to 5:00pm. In addition the incumbent will be required to work rotational Saturday’s from 9:15am to 5:15pm.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $54,678 based on annual performance advances.
