Minimum Qualifications This position is open to current or former NYS employees who have had at least one year of permanent, competitive service as a G-24.
NYS Professional Engineers license and current registration; and PROMOTION: one year of permanent competitive service as an Assistant Engineer (Civil); OPEN COMPETITIVE: two years of engineering experience in the design and construction of parks, roads, bridges, recreational facilities, water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Duties Description This position will be assigned to the Canal Corporation's Design Section and will assist in high-level projects from the design phase through construction. These projects also include on-going canal way trail systems. Responsibilities:
Manage program and project budgets, including allocation of funding; provide updates to executive management on project status; serve as Canals representative with other State, Federal and local elected officials, volunteer groups, internal and external marketing contacts as well as the media; manage and approve engineering and other consultant agreements including payments to ensure compliance with Federal and State standards for multi-use trails; manage environmental and historic preservation analysis and permitting for individual projects; interface with ESD for rebranding recommendations for existing trail segments.

Candidates with experience managing and developing multi-trail systems and managing stakeholder agreements are desired.
