Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a New York State two-year Plumber & Steamfitter Traineeship or New York State two-year plumbing training program; OR successful completion of any equivalent plumbing two year training or apprenticeship program or four years of full time experience in plumbing under a skilled journey-level plumber which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in plumbing or training gained by completion of techinical courses in plumbing at a school, institute or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Duties Description Repairs, maintains and installs plumbing fixtures and appliance such as sinks, shower baths, commodes, drinking fountains, dish washers, valves including pneumatic controls, gas and water meter, gas hot water heaters and other gas appliances, heating systems and controls and various steam equipment used in laundries, kitchens and cafeterias. Water pumps and hydrotherapy equipment. Plans and lays out the installation, alteration and repair of high and low pressure pipe systems that carry water, steam, air or other liquids or gases. Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors and cuts opening required to accommodate pip and fittings.
