Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable of the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made. If you are appointed provisionally, you will have to take and pass the next Civil Service examination. You must also be reachable on the resulting eligible list for that tile or your employment in the position will end. In order to be considered for provisional appointment, you must have one year of permanent, non competitive service as: An Assistant Drill Rig Operator, Assistant Land Surveyor1, Assistant Land Surveyor 2, Drafting Technician, Drill Rig Operator, Engineering Technician, Environmental Engineering Technician1, Environmental Engineering Technician 2, Senior Drafting Technician (all parenthetic) or Senior Engineering Technician (soils)
Duties Description Senior Engineering Technician will perform the following duties for the Design Group: They will support higher level Professional Engineers in the development of plans, written materials including specifications and estimates for all types of highway related projects. Perform or assist with engineering calculations as necessary for the design of highways and related appurtenances. Perform field work which may include surveys, measurements and drafting sketches. Proof read written material, and check computations. Assist at plan reviews, meetings, etc. regarding projects under design, as necessary. Assist in making prints, copies, plans, reports etc. Maintain a safe working area and follow safe work practices. Demonstrate self management and encourage team work. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Additional Comments Work hours/travel percentage will be discussed at interview
