Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have strong quantitative, analytical, writing, research and interpersonal skills; communicate clearly and concisely; and have experience in Microsoft Excel and Word. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is necessary. Preference will be given to graduate student applicants, but undergraduate students are also encouraged to apply.
Duties Description The successful candidate will be involved in various assignments and projects for the Mental Hygiene and Labor Relations (MHLR) Unit. The MHLR Unit budgets for the following agencies: Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC), and is also responsible for budgeting for general state charges, employee fringe benefits and other collective bargaining issues.
The purpose of this internship will be to work, under the supervision of a team leader and with the assistance of other DOB examiners and State agency staff, on a variety of MHLR assignments. These assignments include the research and development of both agency-specific and statewide State Operations and workforce analyses/reports, and additional MHLR activities, as necessary. The successful candidate will be tasked with assignments across a broad array of agencies and areas of responsibility, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in State government operations and the budget process.
