Minimum Qualifications One year of practical experience in performing general construction or maintenance tasks. Must posses and maintain a valid NYS Driver License appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.

Preferred qualifications: fork lift training, chainsaw certification, CPR/AED/First aid training.

Duties Description Supervise a crew of 2-6 staff. Working knowledge of the operation of a variety of self-propelled heavy equipment. Basic knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the assigned equipment. Basic knowledge of the routine repair and maintenance work needed for equipment; ability to use and operate a variety of hand and power tools; ability to operate assigned machine in a safe and effective manner; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions; ability to perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment; ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor based on priorities set by others and the abilities of individual crew members. Orally instruct crew members in the activities and tasks to be performed and answer their questions concerning work procedures. Provide and explain simple written guidelines for work if they are available. Personally observe work in progress and that which is completed to ensure adherence to instructions, guidelines and schedules. Keep written records of work performed and materials and labor used. May use and operate a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment, including self-propelled and stationary machinery. May operate self-propelled machinery, such as cars, trucks, construction equipment and riding mowers; may operate non-self-propelled machines, such as compressors and generators and use hand and power tools, such as axes, shovels, chainsaw and power mowers.

Additional Comments This is a temporary position with a duration of 5/18/17 through 3/31/18.

Action work schedule and hours will be discussed at interview. Work hours are generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
