Duties Description The Office of Agency Performance Improvement (OAPI) is dedicated to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of OCFS operations in order to best serve the children, families and communities of New York State. OAPI has two main areas of focus: 1) Lean, and 2) Performance Metrics.
The Agency Program Aide will perform paraprofessional duties and provide program and technical assistance to one or more professional or technical positions.
• Assist OAPI as this office oversees OCFS’s extensive Lean program; tracks performance metrics; and launches agency wide performance improvement initiatives.
• Support planning, development and project preparation activities connected with Lean projects.
• Act as a liaison between Lean project team members and OAPI, tracking progress as each group implements solutions and generates performance metrics.
• Respond to queries, assist with problem-solving, and coordinate information flowing through the OAPI Shared Mailbox.
• Develop, maintain and regularly update tracking spreadsheets.
• Maintain and regularly update OCFS Lean Jidoka Boards, presenting information about all agency Lean projects.
• Provide OAPI staff, program areas, and agency leadership with updates on project status and performance metrics.
• Communicate with the NYS Lean Office as requested, by providing information and Lean project documentation.
• Assist OAPI in educating OCFS staff about the Lean program and participating in the recruitment of new Empire Belts.
• Utilize knowledge of Excel and other computer skills to analyze data and support agency wide performance related initiatives, including the OCFS performance dashboard project.
• Prepare correspondence and documents.
• Communicate with OCFS’ team of part-time Empire Belts and assist them in accessing programming and training to support skill development.
• Contribute to the development of OAPI short-term and long-term goals and objectives, and assist the Director of OAPI with projects, as needed.

Additional Comments Strong communication skills, and experience with Excel spreadsheets, data review and analysis preferred.
