Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, accounting or closely related field and two years of investigative experience in the investigations of white collar crime, employee misconduct and fraud involving the collection and analysis of various types of business records.
OR
Six years of investigative experience with preference to those with experience in investigations of white collar crime, employee misconduct and fraud involving the collection and analysis of various types of business records;
-Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses, apply various statistical methods and formulas to discern and unravel complex interrelationships, recognize concealed or obscured associations and draw logical inferences and conclusions from multiple data sources for evidentiary purposes;
-Experience with computer forensics and interpretation of internet usage reports and systems access audit logs;
-Experience working as an auditor and preference to those with certifications in computer forensics.

Duties Description Under the direct supervision of the SIU Assistant Chief, conducts in-depth auditing, forensic examination and analysis of information extracted from various record keeping systems and logs to detect discrepancies, misconduct or fraud.
Translates complex and interrelated information into written reports to clearly communicate investigative findings to appropriate parties.
Acts as an internal resource and support for the audit and forensic needs of all SIU staff and also handles referrals for investigation, as necessary, from the Information Security Officer in the OCFS Division of Legal Affairs.
At the discretion of the SIU Chief and Assistant Chief, the Investigative Auditor will act as lead investigator on qualifying cases, prepare for and conduct interviews, obtain sworn statements and interrogate state employees following stipulations of the collective bargaining agreements.
Gathers documents and preserves evidence to support the outcome of investigations; engages in field activity as needed, including surveillance and the collection and preservation of physical evidence to support the investigation.
Makes recommendations to SIU supervisor and the Bureau of Labor Relations regarding possible violations of OCFS policy and procedures and provides testimony at arbitration hearings, as needed.
