Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving, as a Supervising Computer Operator OR must currently be reachable on the Supervising Computer Operator list.
Duties Description • Supervise and direct the daily shift activities of the Operations Services computer operators.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels, attaining maximum and efficient utilization of personnel and equipment.
• Supervise and motivate staff in a manner that makes optimum use of their existing abilities and assists them in improving their level of knowledge, skills, and ability.
• Assist Chief Computer Operator in ensuring overtime is assigned in a manner consistent with union and Agency agreements.
• Ensure adequate, accurate and up to date logs, procedures or documentation exist for all responsible activities conducted by subordinate staff.
• Keep Chief Computer Operator and Operations manager aware of significant decisions, issues, and pending matters.
• Complete probationary and annual performance evaluations timely and accurately for all subordinate staff.
• Supervise and direct the daily computer operations, production, and staff activities as required during assigned shift(s).
• Supervise the printing of all check or controlled documents and confirm they are completed timely and accurately.
• Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of supplies, stock and materials needed in computer operations that are consumed during daily operations.
• Supervise staff to ensure any system or production situation is investigated, addressed and support area is promptly notified according to policy, documentation or procedure.
• Assist subordinate staff with analyzing job issues, errors, corrective action, and communication to support areas as necessary.
• Supervise and assist in the Instruction and training of subordinate staff in the operation of the main consoles and peripheral equipment.
• Supervise subordinate staff in the operation of tape library functions which include robotic system console, offsite storage processes and tape destruction activities.
• Identify, document, or make suggestions to address any defects, inefficiencies, or general improvement opportunities.
• Ensure and maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment.
• Ability to interact and communicate in a clear and concise manner with vendors, application programmers and other staff when necessary.
