Minimum Qualifications Open to New York State employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Professional Engineer 2 Civil/Transportation and eligible to transfer via ยง70.1 in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates must possess a valid NYS Professional Engineering license.

Duties Description Structural Inspection Engineer - Reporting to the Manager of Engineering & Maintenance, the Structural Inspection Engineer would be responsible for the NYS Canal Corporation's Asset Management and Structural Inspection program. The NYS Canal Corporation is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and capital rehabilitation of a portfolio of locks, bridges, buildings, roads, retaining walls, water control structures, breakwaters, culverts, and multi-use trails. The Structural Inspection Engineer would provide administrative supervision to other licensed professional engineers and would be required to manage engineering consulting firms in support of the Asset Management & Structural Inspection program. The Structural Inspection Engineer is the system administrator for the inventory and inspections software systems used by the NYS Canal Corporation and will manage a work order management system, currently being developed. Knowledge of federal and state standards and guidelines related to bridge inspection is preferred.
