Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or eligible for transfer via Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law.
OR
Candidates must have been admitted to the New York State Bar and must have had two years of experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar.
Duties Description
Responsible for providing all aspects of legal assistance and support to OCFS’ Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY). Assist in negotiating and drafting contracts on various subjects including services and property matters and in drafting and reviewing agency policies and regulations.
assist the Attorney General’s Office with defending litigation against OCFS, and may be called upon to represent OCFS at administrative hearings concerning youth in care.
Additional duties will be discussed in greater detail during the interview.
Additional Comments Preferred quals - knowledge of education law, confidentiality laws such as the Heath Information Portability and Accountability Act and the Personal Privacy Law, juvenile justice topics, and employee health and safety related topics.
