Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Legal Assistant 2 eligible list; or eligible to transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
NYS employees must have at least one year as a Legal Assistant 2 (SG-17) OR service in a qualifying title equated to SG-15 who also possess an Associate’s degree or certificate in legal studies, paralegal studies, or legal assistant studies from an accredited institution or one approved by the NYS Bar Association AND has one year of subsequent full-time experience as a Paralegal, OR possesses a Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or legal assistant studies from an accredited institution or one approved by the NYS Bar Association.
Duties Description Hearing Case Management
• Oversee, coordinate and supervise hearing case management.
• Ensure timely scheduling of hearings and establish team goals consistent with management goals.
• Make changes in process and procedure to accommodate changing needs and priorities. Supervision of a staff of five (5) Legal Assistant 1s and two (2) Office Assistant 2s
Hiring and Orientation
• Assist with interviews, hiring, and orientation of new staff, new hearing officers, and other 3rd party vendors associated with hearing administration.

• Overall – is able to perform all the duties of a Legal Assistant 1 and have the ability to transfer that knowledge for the purpose of training new staff.

• Writing Skills – is highly skilled in conveying complex information into simple, readable form, possesses a demonstrated ability to write correspondence, reports, memos.
