REASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS: An employee with one year permanent competitive service as a Secretary 1, Grade 11 is eligible for reassignment to any location where a vacancy exists in the title.
An employee with less than one year permanent service is eligible for reassignment to a different geographic location if reachable for appointment in the new location.
70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: An employee with one year of permanent competitive service in a title allocated to Grade 9 or higher may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In addition, keyboarding proficiency is a minimum requirement of this position. If you have not previously held a keyboarding position, you must demonstrate that you possess the requisite keyboarding skills.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: As a Secretary 1 you would be responsible for providing administrative support in the Personnel office. The duties would include but not limited to; establish and implement procedures to maintain an efficient work flow; perform a variety of routine office functions; and perform responsible clerical work. You would also screen and refer telephone calls to the appropriate staff; examine daily mail and personally handle routine correspondence by preparing replies or collecting information for your supervisor's use in replying; keep office records and files using a variety of software. You would be responsible for the preparation of a variety of documents, databases and correspondence.
The Personnel Bureau provides strategic advice and guidance to agency leaders, managers and supervisors on a variety of personnel issues, such as evaluating current and future staffing needs that impact job classification and recruitment for new and existing programs. In addition, the bureau assists employees with career advancement, questions about examinations and various employee benefit programs, such as voluntary reduction work schedules, Family Medical Leave, employee health services, workers’ compensation, and retirement.
