Minimum Qualifications - Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
- Must be able to communicate orally with other staff and park patrons.
- The incumbent must be available to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license at the time of appointment and must maintain as a term and condition of employment.
- Applicants must be willing to keep up on all mandated trainings.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Schuyler Mansion Park Supervisor, the selected candidate will be involved in securing the historic site by conducting regular rounds, inspecting grounds and historic buildings, and keeping a log of activities. An 8 hour in service training is required for the security guard portion of this position and is conducted during work hours. Prior to this training, a 16 hour off site training is required, after which a NYS security guard certificate is issued. Maintenance duties include grounds maintenance according to seasonal cyclical plans and the weather. These duties include, but are not limited to lawn mowing, weeding, shoveling, snow blowing, plowing, leaf collecting and watering the garden. The employee will help to maintain the property for both the attractiveness of the site and the safety of our staff and visitors. This employee often works independently with a minimum of direct supervision and will operate self-propelled equipment, load and unload cargo from vehicles and storage, perform interior building maintenance and cleaning activities, and assist in other areas of the historic site operations as necessary.

Additional Comments 24 hours per week, 5pm – 1am; Thursday & Sunday; & 9am – 5:30pm Wednesdays
This schedule is negotiable as shifts are available, must be able to work some holidays.
