* Certificates from Trade or Technical Schools will be accepted only if they are institutions that are regionally accredited or recognized by the NYS Department of Education as following acceptable educational practices. Duties Description Prepares drawings in AutoCAD following rough sketches, oral or written instructions and prepares architectural or engineering specifications utilizing standard reference materials.
-Draws contract plans of buildings, structures, landscapes, mechanical or electrical systems, determining appropriate detail, scale and text size.
-Makes simple mathematical computations using standardized tables and formulas.
-May function as a job captain on a project basis.
-Receives assignment from the project chief with instructions indicating the intent of the project and the details concerning the client's requirements.
-May inspect project site to verify project scope, confirm and take measurements, determine and document site condition, and to acquire and confirm other information and facts concerning the project. Reports findings to project chief.
-Prepares drawings in AutoCAD and directs staff in the preparation of drawings according to project requirements and other relevant documents and instructions.
-Assures that staff work assignments are carried out accurately and according to schedule by providing technical guidance and assistance and by reviewing work while in progress and when completed.
-Discusses work related problems with the project chief and implements solutions as directed.
-May assist in preparing the architect engineer's estimate by computing the quantities of materials necessary for the project.
-As directed by the project chief, incumbents review plans prepared by contractors for compliance with contract specifications.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required.
