Duties Description Working under the supervision of professional staff, the incumbent will be responsible for a variety of paraprofessional technical and program activities to support the work of professional staff within the Division of Fish & Wildlife’s Fish Culture Section. This section includes 12 fish hatcheries located across New York State, a fish disease control unit in Rome, and Central Office staff. The incumbent will be expected to exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment in the performance of duties and application of various State and federal laws, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines that require interpretation. Specific job functions include, but are not limited to: Design, implement, and administer the Section SharePoint website; Provide overall coordination of key dates and processes for administrative functions; Using new fish hatchery software currently under construction, develop ways to extract and report on key metrics needed to effectively manage fish production; Draft action plans for hatchery infrastructure projects, and develop a tracking system to monitor progress; Process private trout hatchery permit applications and bass hatchery permit applications in accordance with New York State laws and regulations; coordinate purchases of fish food, hatchery supplies and fish eggs; process invoices and administer purchase cards; Assist managers with the maintenance of hazard communication plans, emergency action plans, and other documents required by the Health and Safety Unit and the Department of State’s Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau (PESH); Coordinate employee drug and alcohol testing of hatchery staff who hold commercial driver’s licenses in compliance with the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA); and assist the managers of the fish hatcheries and fish disease control unit in the filling of temporary positions throughout the year.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required.
