Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Supervisor of Education Programs.

Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in any of the following titles: Associate in Bilingual Education, Associate in Continuing Education, Associate in Early Childhood Education, Associate in Education Improvement Services, Associate in Educational Planning and Evaluation or Associate in Instructional Services.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for a Supervisor of Education Programs position in the State Office for Religious and Independent Schools. This Office serves the needs of students in over 1,800 state-recognized nonpublic schools and provides on-site school visits, opportunities for curriculum improvement and professional development activities, provides technical assistance and support, and oversees federal and State aid functions for nonpublic schools. This Office incorporates the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) mandated Ombudsman to ensure compliance with the equitable services requirements of the federal law. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manage the daily operations of the State Office for Religious and Independent Schools;
• Increase involvement and integration of the nonpublic schools community in policy formation by implementing regional nonpublic schools and community engagement strategies;
• Direct and oversee the reinstatement of a model for on-site nonpublic school visits and a five-year review cycle for registered nonpublic high schools;
• Provide policy and program guidance to nonpublic schools and their districts of location;
• Direct the implementation of regulations pertaining to nonpublic schools and ESSA, as well as key instructional areas such as curriculum, instruction and professional development for nonpublic schools;
• Support and monitor statewide nonpublic school policy and regulations;
• Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of educational models to support best practices, curricular, and educational programs in nonpublic schools; and
• Supervise and support professional staff in the performance of their duties.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.

*Leads to maximum salary of $114,553 based on annual performance advances.
