Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State in good standing
Three years of experience in a CPA firm, or related governmental and/or financial experience, in progressively responsible positions
Supervisory experience
Duties Description Supervise the Cash Control, General Accounting, Payroll and Tax, Budget and Planning, and Procurement units. Ensure each has appropriate staffing levels and training. Oversee the quality, quantity, and timeliness of each unit’s work.
Assist in developing and implementing internal control procedures and documentation of policies.
Supervise and assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, annual Insurance Department report and the annual System budget.
Act as liaison with our Statutory Custodian, Depository Bank, Insurance Department, and independent auditors.
Assist in automation and streamlining of current processes for continuous improvement.

Knowledge of Accounting Systems and Internal Controls.
Familiar with PeopleSoft enterprise-wide pension and accounting systems.
Working knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards and GAAP
Familiarity with the Internal Revenue Code.
Proven ability to multi-task and set priorities
Experience preparing, reporting and analyzing financial statements of a large, complex organization
Knowledge of Accounting Systems and "Internal Controls” with Experience with COSO and or Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)compliance
Managerial experience
