Minimum Qualifications Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service’s Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-240 with a score of 100.0 or higher OR qualified 55B/C candidate in possession of a Bachelor’s or higher degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced office and prioritize multiple assignments. Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. Advanced proficiency with Excel, Access, or other database programs and data management programs such as Structured Query Language (SQL).

Duties Description The Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables Program (JSY) is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education initiative (SNAP-Ed) focused on obesity prevention, and promoting healthy diets and active lifestyles to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients and eligible families. JSY provides behaviorally-focused nutrition education and obesity prevention strategies including the development and adoption of policies and systems that facilitate and support environmental changes. JSY has contracts with the 8 New York State Regional Food Banks and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to implement JSY in emergency food program and farmers market settings.

The Health Program Administrator (HPA) will be responsible for JSY fiscal oversight, preparing required quarterly fiscal reports as well as compiling other program data from JSY’s web based application to include in these reports. This position will provide contract management of two (2) JSY food bank contracts ensuring compliance with contract and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) SNAP-Ed regulations and providing technical assistance to contractors regarding allowable activities and expenses. Other job duties include implementing data monitoring systems, conducting management evaluation activities; and coordinating quality assurance activities to ensure that contractors are meeting deliverables.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, two-year traineeship leading to a G18. Occasional travel within New York State, including to locations that may not be served by public transportation, is required.
