Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT:

Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for this title;

OR for Transfer Opportunity:

Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Licensed Psychologist and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be in a title deemed appropriate for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In addition, candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice psychology in New York State;

OR

Temporary Appointment:

Licensed Psychologist is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not currently on the eligible list may apply for this position and if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment. To qualify, candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice psychology in New York State. To apply for this examination, candidates must submit a completed NYS-APP form with their resume and cover letter. A NYS-APP form can be obtained by emailing NYS Department of Civil Service: examinfo@cs.ny.gov.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Duties Include but are not limited to the following:

Under the supervision of the Regional Office Principal Psychologist, the Licensed Psychologist will serve as the Crisis Unit Coordinator and will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Provide leadership and actively participate in all functions performed by the Crisis Unit, including staff supervision.
• Work with high level hospital staff, school administrators, law enforcement, Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Office of Mental Health, and any and all entities that may be involved in addressing crisis situations.
• Participate in family home visits, hospital visits, and attend hearings as needed.
• Regularly consult with Counsel's Office
• Create policy for the Crisis Unit.
• Lead and participate in weekly Crisis Committee Meetings and bi-weekly Crisis Coalition Meetings.
• Participate in weekly High Risk Committee Meetings, CRO Team Meetings and Auspice Meetings.
• Attend Quarterly OPWDD and Adult Protective Service Meetings
• Director of the regional office's START Team. Attend all START meetings and trainings. Work collaboratively with the START provider.
• Review Third Step Eligibility packets on a weekly basis
• Review and make determinations for Intensive Respite Rate Applications as needed.
• Participate in Special Projects and assignments as required
• Participate in Administrator on Call duties.

Selection Criteria:
• Possess excellent supervisory skills;
• Possess excellent and professional communication, public speaking, writing and organizational skills;
• Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships with people served including families, advocates, community representatives, voluntary providers, DDRO, DDSOO, and other state agency staff;
• Computer knowledge and ability to maintain databases and monitoring systems;
• Possess acceptable time and attendance and work record;
• Must be able to comply with required work schedule;
• Ability to participate in requested functions and work activities during evening hours and weekends.
