Minimum Qualifications Must possess a valid license and registration to practice Dentistry in New York State and have two years of full-time post-licensure Dentistry experience.
Duties Description Dentists do extractions, restorations, prosthetics, root canal therapy, prophylaxis, and limited periodontics; administer local anesthesia; examine and chart the dental condition of patients; take and interpret dental x-rays; perform oral surgery; and treat oral diseases and infections. Where appropriate the Dentist may provide oral hygiene instruction. As a Dentist 2, you would have responsibility, usually under the advisory direction of a higher ranking Dentist, for the regular examination, treatment, and complete dental care of patients in a state facility. You may be the only Dentist in a very small institution or facility.
