Duties Description Perform overall clinical supervision of clinical staff working with youth who have intellectual/developmental disorders.
Assess the quality and appropriateness of care/therapeutic interventions planned and provided to youth. Guide treatment planning to include developmentally appropriate goals and objectives most likely to lead to growth and change for the youth and family. Attend support team meetings, intact team meetings, facility psychiatric rounds and red flag reviews in support of effective treatment planning. Assist in identifying testing and assessment required for treatment planning and referrals for appropriate aftercare services. Facilitate such assessments through coordination with the Assistant Director for Treatment and Behavioral Health Chief of Treatment Services. Assist the treatment/support team in developing reasonable and achieveable discharge plans. Work with Community Multi Services Offices (CMSO) to develop community support plans that foster successful transition of youth from DJJOY facilities to community based services.
Complete record reviews and report findings to facility and Behavioral Health Administration. Develop and provide trainings specific to treating youth who have intellectual deisabilities in juvenile justice settings, Provide literature, forums for discussion and other resources to facility and community based teams to foster increased understanding of best practices for working with youth who have intellectual disabilities.
Develop working relationships with representatives from the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and voluntary agencies that provide services to youth who have intellectual/developmental disorders. Create linkages for youth to receive services in such settings.
Additional Comments This position requires travel to DJJOY Facilities and CMSO’s in NYS. The identified candidate will travel approximately 25% of time (0-3 days a week depending on need).
The preferred candndate will have a history of working with youth and families in residential, mental health or hospital settings and will have a good working knowledge of navigating systems to identify resources for clients served. Experience with developing, approving and monitoring treatment/service plans is desireable. The preferred candidate will demonstrate a history or ability to work effectively in an administrative setting as a part of the administrative team.
