Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service as a Secretary 1 or one year of permanent competitive service in an office assistant, clerical, secretarial or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 9 or higher eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law or be currently reachable for appointment from the Secretary 1 eligible list. Transfer candidates will be required to demonstrate keyboarding proficiency by passing the keyboarding performance test.

Duties Description The Department of State is seeking a qualified candidate for permanent appointment as a Secretary 1. The position will be assigned to the Division of Cemeteries.

DUTIES:

Performs the full range of administrative and secretarial duties, including but not limited to: handling and tracking incoming correspondence and drafting responses; preparing and reviewing outgoing correspondence; preparing spreadsheets and reports and compiling information; transmitting instructions from administrative staff and following up; handling telephone calls and visitors and responding to their questions; scheduling appointments, meetings, and conferences; making travel arrangements for staff; reviewing and establishing office procedures; creating and maintaining filing systems; and performing other appropriate duties as assigned.
