Minimum Qualifications Reachable for appointment from the Civil Service eligible list OR
One year of permanent competitive service in this title or eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of Civil Service law
One year of permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding Spanish Language), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding Spanish Language), Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 1, Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 2, or Law Department Document Specialist.
Duties Description Review incoming correspondence and draft responses where appropriate.
Review outgoing correspondence for grammar, spelling, etc.
Research background information.
Transmit instructions to staff and conduct follow-up.
Handle telephone calls and visitors and respond to questions.
Coordinate and arrange meetings.
Establish office procedures.
Set up and maintain office filing systems (including electronic).
Resolve day-to-day operational problems.
Coordinate information flow by acting as liaison among key executives, staff, other employees, and the public.
May supervise clerical staff.
