Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.

Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is currently recruiting to fill a Mental Health Program Specialist 2, Grade 23, vacancy. The Mental Health Program Specialist 2 is a generalist position that provides expert technical assistance to 19 psychiatric centers serving children and adults. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Director of Adult Services in State Operations to manage special projects.

Specific duties to be performed include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist in managing projects pertaining to the development of new specialized programs initiated at the direction of the Associate Commissioner, especially related to areas of service to those with criminal histories and propensity toward violence.

Work with Leadership to identify and develop programming and training needs pertaining to high risk and forensic populations.

Coordinate programming and trainings including the facilitation of contracts and budget as well as overseeing implementation of those trainings.

Function as the Workplace Violence Prevention liaison for State Operated Services.

Collect and analyze data pertaining to violent incidents and identify trends.
