Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in a title SG-13 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law. Candidates on the eligible list will be considered, and need not apply to this posting.

Duties Description This is a key administrative position which supports the day to day operations of the Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives (OPCA). The incumbent provides a full range of professional administrative services in support of the office and is the secretary for the Deputy Commissioner/Director and the Assistant Director of OPCA. The incumbent represents OPCA and manages communications with all external entities, including state-county probation communications. The duties of the incumbent include, but are not limited to: coordinating and screening phone calls for executive staff; reviewing and tracking incoming mail; managing executive staff travel, including processing of travel vouchers; scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, preparing meeting materials and taking meeting minutes; and logging and tracking critical incident reports.

The Secretary 2 also prepares reports and general correspondence; tracks complaints; establishes and maintains both electronic and hard copy files; orders office supplies; arranges prospective employee interviews; maintains mailing lists, directories and contact information of all county probation directors; and prepares service award certificates and retirement letters upon request from counties.

Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
