Minimum Qualifications Current Office of General Services employee with permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c status as a Construction Estimator 2 Architectural (Title formally known as Assistant Architectural Estimator) and interested in reassignment; OR New York State employees with one year of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Construction Estimator 2 Architectural (Title formally known as Assistant Architectural Estimator).

Provisional/Pending Examination:
Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as:
A. a Construction Estimator 1 (Architectural) (Title formally known as Junior Architectural Estimator); or
B. a Junior Architect, Principal Drafting Technician (Architectural), Principal Drafting Technician (Structural), Principal Drafting Technician (General), or Assistant Superintendent of Construction;
OR
Six years of experience in assisting with architectural or engineering work, one of which must include preparing and reviewing building construction cost estimates.

College study in architecture, architectural engineering, engineering, engineering technology, construction management, construction technology, or highway technology will substitute for up to four years of the required general architectural or engineering experience on the basis of 30 semester credit hours equaling one year of general experience. Applicants must have the one year of preparing and reviewing building construction cost estimates cost.

Duties Description Prepare and review detailed cost estimates of the quantity and price of labor, materials, and equipment involved in new building construction, site development and the rehabilitation projects for statewide facilities. Estimate, verify and compare costs of construction and alternative building systems. Prepare and review change order work and emergency projects. May be required to review and supervise the preparation of cost estimates for consultant work.
